Wearing Leather To Work
I LOVE bringing out my leather pieces during the Winter months. They're cool and sophisticated and just adds another level of edginess to my wardrobe. If you haven't delved into the world of leather yet, here are a few ways that you can incorporate some leather staples into your everyday wardrobe.
A leather dress is the easiest way to bring leather to the workplace. If you don't want to commit to the full 'Mad Max' thunder dome look, then try a dress with leather accents. Worried about it being to heavy or too hot to wear around all day? Opt for a lightweight faux piece and bring out the heavier jewelry instead. Also, if the garment isn't lined, wear a slip (yes, I said slip) or Spanx to keep leather off of your skin.
There are so many amazing colors and varieties of leather skirts out there that is hard to pick which one I want to wear. I always run to my familiar pencil skirts, but this season, I am ogling the pleated leather skirt. If you're going this route, make sure your body shape will allow it. Best for my apple and round shape chicas, the pleat draws the eye away from a fuller mid section. If you have a petite frame, go for a shorter version as the pleats will work against you and overwhelm your frame if too long.
A leather vest is such a sexy way to bring leather into an already fabulous wardrobe. Paired with a silk or rayon blouse and pencil skirt, it adds a level of sophistication and edge that a plain ole' black blazer just can't do. Finish out the look with a killer heel and bold signature bag and you'll have the office in full paparazzi mode!
I hope I gave you the inspiration to be a little bit bolder with your wardrobe choices this week. Incorporate a few pieces at a time until you feel comfortable with the trend and don't think about it too much. Fashion should be fun and is all about experimentation. Enjoy your leather pieces and show the world your foxy side ;-)
