Items you should thrift…

Y’all know I love a good peruse through my local mall BUT there are some closet items that are better to thrift. Here’s a few:
Leather jackets-As a plus-sized chica linda, most of our leather options are faux AND fast fashion. No shade, because I own quite a few Fashionnova faux leather pieces. However, I’ve found more than my fair share of leather jackets in the men’s section of my local thrift store. Number one, the size offerings are plenty. Number two, if you’re looking for unique vintage pieces that you can’t readily find at your local Zara, the thrift is THE plug!
Coats- Again, as a plus-sized shopper, the variety of colors and styles in the men’s section specifically is bar none. I’d like to add that South Florida has an abundance of great outerwear and I’m gonna say it’s because of the snowbirds that take up residence here during the colder parts of the year. They arrive in their winter coats and shed the layers for their swimsuits, donating all their winter goodies to their local Goodwill.
Denim-this goes for jeans, jackets, dresses and everything in between. Whether I need them or not, I always peruse the denim section of my local thrift store. Quiet as it’s kept, 100% off my Good American denim collection is thrifted…and I’m always looking to add more LOL
Blouses- I can’t tell you the last time I purchased a blouse in a traditional store (minus my excursions perusing Macy’s Last Act Clearance). My local thrift store carries an array of styles for anywhere from $3.99 to $8.99, and leave room for 50% off Wednesdays. When most stores are selling polyester for $100+, Imma stay over at the thrift store.
Glass wear-Although not fashion-focused, I have to mention glassware because, again, I can’t tell you the last time I purchased glassware at a traditional store. This can be anything from glasses and cups to vases and jars to house my makeup brushes. That being said, if you’re looking to redecorate for the Fall, add thrift stores to your list BEFORE you hit up Homegoods LOL
