What is fashion week and why should you care?
I have been in love with watching fashion shows since the days of Lauren Ezersky on 'Behind the Velvet Ropes', interviewing some of the greatest names in fashion. I was literally glued to the television watching her backstage in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the shows. It's actually one of the main reasons I decided to go to school to be a Fashion Buyer and minor in French. My goal was to be front and center with my Creative Director, taking notes on what I wanted on my sales floor and how it would look in my shop windows. The goal was to make the world a prettier place, one store at a time and clothe my shoppers in the best the Paris runways had to offer. I was going to work at the Bon Marche or Galleries LaFayette and live in an apartment off of the Champs Elysee with my husband, poodle and 2.5 kids. I need to get back on that track! ;-)
All that being said, I equate watching fashion shows with with watching an art performance, each intricate design being its own display. But, I do realize I am a fashion addict LOL So, why should the "average" person be watching the shows? Take a look at this video for the three reasons you ABSOLUTELY need to be paying attention to what's coming down the catwalks of New York, London, Paris and Milan...as well as some other cities like Miami, Sydney and Tokyo.
